Hat Rack posters represent a collection of photographs of certain locations organized according to one or two of the five hatracks outlined by Richard Saul Wurman: location, alphabetical order, time, category, hierarchy.  The posters had to include 40 images placed on each one of them 22’’ by 29.5’’ in dimension in an order that reveals a set of links between them (visual or conceptual).
The location I have chosen for the posters is Hawaii. The images on the first poster are organized according to the “location” showing where the photographs were taken.
The second poster contains photographs organized by the “black and white vs color” as well as “time” showing when the photographs were taken.
Second draft of the posters.
Third draft of the posters includes the actual images from my collection as well as the images borrowed from a "Introduction to Hawaii" book by Ansel Adams and Edward Joesting, and Flikr website.
Forth draft is a revised version of the third draft. The posters now have all the required images and appropriate citations of the photos.
My final two drafts of the posters differ in the selection of the type treatments. The first final draft uses very simple approach in terms of plain clear type choice.
The second final draft of the poster uses more decorative approach in terms of type treatment. I have chosen more decorative contemporary type and incorporated palm leaves texture into it.
